Hodgdon say it meters the same as Longshot. As always confirm with your scale. I literally just got some to try but looking at how little volume this powder takes up it will require a tall wad for 20 ga 7/8 ounce loadings (you might have to substitute the CB 3/4 wad where it lists the CB 7/8 wad. If you are looking for low pressure in a 20ga with 7/8 oz the Federal hull is the best choice listed especially if you keep velocity at 1150.

Pete, while you can use the same bushing, grain for grain, the 572 has greater deviation than Longshot. The 572 bottle says "Clean Burning", but that was not my experience.
I tried 100 rounds of 28ga using 572, and I too found the volume an issue. Fortunately I have a good variety of wads. I think I ended up using the BP2895, but that wad is too expensive. My normal, RO-28 Fiocchi wad and 20/28 gives me my best 3/4oz crimp (I'm loading only 2 1/2") I went to Cabelas for shot today, and they did have plenty of Longshot and 572 on the shelf. |

Pete,
That was my thinking about powder shortage. CAC had 17 572 4 pounders so I figured I should purchase some before they too disappear. I also purchased 8 lbs of Bullseye, yes, not the best but the old Hercules manual had several 7/8 loads. CAC had 49 in stock. Beggars can’t by chooses. Thanks all, John |
