I am new to Parkers and curious what exactly I have
Hello Team Parker.
I am new to the forum and a novice at best on the topics. I am trying to determine the grade and value of my 12 guage. Here's what I have put in my notes. Is more needed? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Parker Bros Shotgun 12 Guage Side by Side S/N 84462 Made in 1896 ( 83630-85582) Bead site Checkered Stock Etched on top of barrel rib “Parker Bros Makers Meriden Conn Damascus Steel" 30 ¼ “ Barrel 46 ¾” LO Engraved “Patd. March 26, 1878” Etched Parker Bros turkeys” on left side. Etched “ Parker Bros & ducks” on right side Two triggers |

Hi John and Welcome.
Unfortunately your Parker's serial number falls within the range where the person recording Parker shotguns for the "Parker Gun Identification and Serialization" book chose to omit any and all guns of Grade 2 or lower. But by your description I would venture to say it is a Grade 2 or G grade and it sounds like it might be a hammerless model rather than one with external or exposed hammers. If you can post a few high resolution pictures of it we can be a bit more precise in identifying it for you. Incidentally, there are surviving records on serial number 84462 upon which to base a research letter for you. Go to the "PGCA home" page at the top left of this page and click on the topic "Research Letter" to get started. As a Forum Associate your cost for the letter will be $100 but as a PGCA Member your cost will be $40 after you join for $40 annually so, you'll save $20 by joining. , .

Hello John, Value for any Parker is usually based upon condition, configuration(grade, gauge, barrel length, any special request upon manufacture..etc), provenance, sentimentality, and originality. Would love to see pictures as Dean suggested. You are at the right place for information.
